Communication Manager

Starch Europe is seeking a communication manager to join its secretariat in Brussels. Starch Europe is the trade association which represents the interests of the EU starch industry both at European and international level. Its membership comprises 27 EU starch producing companies and in associate membership, 7 national starch industry associations.

Tasks include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of Starch Europe’s communication strategy
  • Crafting compelling and dynamic content based on technical and scientific information to promote the reputation of the starch industry and starch-based ingredients in Europe
  • Managing Starch Europe’s digital and social media platforms (website, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Managing relations with EU media, including organisations of interviews and briefings, dissemination of press releases
  • Effective media and social media listening & monitoring
  • Supporting implementation of national communication (notably social media) activities, most notably in France, but also in other Member States

The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum 3 years of communication experience at EU level, preferably in EU institution, industry, consultancy or trade association but general B2C communication experience also an important asset
  • Digital & social media savvy, with experience in community & website management, SEO, web analytics, etc.
  • Experience in effectively integrating digital and social media into communications and public affairs strategies
  • Excellent English writing skills and proven experience in writing and editing of messages, press releases, reports, articles and other materials;
  • Ability to work in French; other EU languages also an asset
  • Understanding of EU polices is a plus, as is an understanding of the food and agriculture sector generally, and the food ingredients sector specifically
  • Quality focused with a keen eye for detail
